In a bid to enhance livelihoods and foster a deeper understanding of Data Science and Interdisciplinary Research in Uganda, the "DSA Uganda Eastern" conference was convened at Busitema University, Tororo Campus. The event, held under the theme "Improving livelihoods through Data Science and Interdisciplinary Research in Uganda," featured an array of insightful presentations and discussions by distinguished experts in the field.

Python Programming Unveiled by Mr. Kisitu

The Epi Fellows, under the IDEA Fellowship Programme (EDCTP-2: CSA2020E-3126) which is led by Busitema University have successfully organised and delivered on a 2 day conference on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases as part of their training, engagement with academia, scientists, policy makers and international organisations. Professor Peter Olupot-Olupot is the coordinator of the IDEA Fellowship Programme and the Patron of the annual conferences under this programme.It is the first such annual conference organised under Busitema University. 

Thursday 14 th September, 2023 at Grand Global Hotel-Kampala, Associate Professor Joseph K.B. Matovu (Principal Investigator- PI) from the Faculty of Health Sciences – Mbale, disseminated his research findings under the research project titled: PEST4MEN. The workshop theme was: An Intervention to Reach Men in The Fishing
Communities with HIV Testing Services.

Busitema University proudly participated in the Ongoing  Sage Uganda Workshop, which was held at Makerere University from September 4th to 8th, 2023, in a spectacular display of devotion to gender equality and academic collaboration. The event, which was co-organized by numerous notable institutions, including Makerere University,Busitema University aims to bring together African mathematicians in order to stimulate collaboration, motivate students, and promote women in mathematics.

On the 19th of August 2023, the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Science marked yet another significant milestone as it warmly welcomed a new cohort of graduate students at the Jinja Study Center. This auspicious event saw the orientation of 25 eager and promising students into the academic fold of the University.

In a historic gathering that took place on the 22nd of August, 2023, the distinguished Faculty of Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences (NRES) convened with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA). The purpose of this high-profile meeting was to initiate the drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that signifies a significant leap forward in collaborative efforts.

The Directorate of Gender Mainstreaming at Busitema University recently conducted an enlightening career discussion for our final year students, presenting useful insights regarding life beyond the transcript. This programme, spearheaded by Ms. Bilabwa Betty from the Directorate of Gender Mainstreaming, was aimed at widen students' horizons beyond their academic achievements by providing them with the tools they need to excel in life outside the university walls.

In a heartwarming gathering on the evening of Thursday, August 31st, 2023, staff from Busitema University came together at Brand Masters to bid farewell to their esteemed colleague, Professor Kucel. The event was marked by exuberant celebrations, complete with a lavish spread of delectable food and beverages.

Professor Elly Sabiiti has been named Acting First Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs by the Chancellor of Busitema University. The decision comes after the completion of Professor Samuel Baker Kucel's required 10-year term in the same position.

The University is Proud of successfully pioneering PLASPHALT (Plastic Waste Reinforced Bitumen Pavement), a game-changing technology that not only alters road construction but also handles the critical issue of plastic waste, spearheaded by  Mr. Vincent Muwulya.
